NON-CAPITAL 1 cases are to be tried by a tribunal of three judges: cases of robbery and personal violence, 2 by three; cases involving whole or half damages, 3 repaying double, 4 or repaying fourfold or fivefold, 5 and cases of forcing, 6 seduction . SANHEDRIN is the title given to the fourth tract in the fourth of the six orders or series which make up the Mishnah.1 This order, called nezikin, "damages" (or, in the Tosefta, yeshu‘oth, "redemptions"), deals more or less directly with the various branches of Jewish jurisprudence; and Sanhedrin, as its name implies, treats of the higher legislative courts, their constitution, authority.

Mishna, although there are some variations between different manuscripts and printed editions of the Tosefta. There is one exception to this, which is the Masechta Keilim. In the Mishna it is a single tractate, where as in the Tosefta it is split into three separate tractates, known as, Bava Kama, Bava Metzia and Bava Batra.

The Mishnah (Hebrew: משנה ‎) is the basic compilation of the Oral law of Judaism; according to the tradition, it was compiled in CE.

The Tosefta closely corresponds to the Mishnah, with the same divisions for sedarim ("orders") and masekhot ("tractates"). It is mainly written in Mishnaic Hebre.
